Wednesday wickedness....
Just the one tune to put up this week. There are a few other bits floating about from people such as Choclair, Clipse and the like, however in my humble opinion this is the best of the lot by a long way. Premier is once again responsible for the killer beat, i might just rename these posts to 'whats Preemo been upto this week...' as eveything that comes out of his studio is simply BAD. So anyway this is the first single of his new LP 'Politics As Usual' and if the rest of it is as good as this then we're in for a treat! Enjoy

New MF Doom Goodness!!
Now I'm sure I said this a hundred times if I said it once, but everybody loves Doom, and I was most pleased to find this little nugget of goodness on the net. Taken from seattle based producer Jake One's new LP, White Van Music, Doom as per usual kills it with his sick flow and heavyweight lyrics. And it's a nice beat too. Doom's next long player 'Born To This' is in the pipeline if you believe the internet rumours, I've also read that Madvillian 2 is on the cards as well. But then again there was all the hype about the Ghostface & Doom collaboration LP which never saw the light of day so I'm taking these with a pinch of salt. One thing i did notice though is that Ghost & Rae have apparently got guest mic duties on 'Born To This'.
edit: I'm allot more inclined to believe the internet rumours as they stem from Spyder over at URP Music Distribution (The number 1 vinyl distro in the US) and he knows his shit. He also emails me (and the rest of his distribution list) about 5 times a day informing us of what fresh wax is coming in. So yeah release date is Oct 21st, set up a reminder for that shit, fool.

More Wednesday Wickedness For Yer Earhole
Ok, so after the bits last week I decided to stick up a few more bits I heard recently.
First up here's some new Saigon with Just Blaze on the boards featuring Baby Cham and Kardinal Offishal called Chillyboom which samples the old Soul II Soul tune, Back To Life (However You need It). Apparantly it's not going to the on the Greatest Story Never Told but I don't even know what is gonna be on there so don't worry about that...
Saigon ft. Baby Cham & Kardinal Offishal - Chillyboom
More reggae tinged vibes here. I don't know much about this Jazmine Sullivan woman, or this tune actually but it's alright. Featuring Canada's favourite rasta Kardinal Offishal it sounds like summertime should sound (in a kinda bent RnB fashion).
Jazmine Sullivan - Need U Bad RMX_ft_Kardinal Offishal
And this is yet more laid back grooves, this time from Raphael Saadiq. People describe this guy as Neo Soul and stuff like that but I'd rather not pidgeon hole the guy and let him sing what he wants. His new album - The Way I See It is out next week (September 16th) and probably worth a listen just to remind you that even though the weather let us right down this year summer still happened.
Raphael Saadiq - The Big Easy
Here's something for free that you can go download from here: http://www.greenlabelsound.com/ by the Cool Kids talking about being a delivery man. Thses dudes are killing it now imo, so check it out and also peep their latest proper release: The Bake Sale.
The Cool Kids - Delivery Man
And finally here's and old classic produced by Marley Marl, Bobby Ervin and LL Cool J, I don't really need to say much more about this, if you've never heard it before then you need to get out more!!:
LL Cool J - Mama Said Knock You Out

Saturday Night @ Cuba
Saturday night was another heavy old 36th Chamber party.
Phletch kicked off proceedings with a seriously bass laden dubstep set and got the bassbins buzzing before I jumped on and banged out some old skool classic hip hop tunage which warmed things up nicely for 3 Parts DJ to do what he was there to do. I must admit I made a slight detour to the hogshead about this time so I missed the whole of Skink's set and most of Vapour's too. But hey it was all good too so I hear.

The Banksy Years
"The difference between analog recordings (vinyl) and digital (CD's MP3's) is similiar to that of incandescent light bulbs and florescent ones. The former emits something natural and organic that resonates deeply with our inner psyche, the latter, while offering a techincally superior performance, retains a thin veneer of the artificial that fails to fully penetrate our senses, therefore making us unable to form as strong an emotional bond.
What pleasure is there to be had in clicking a virtual button with a mouse? Very little, really. Whereas the slightly precarious operation of placing a record on a platter and dropping the needle seems like a surgical procedure of a kind that most modern automation has tried to completely erase.
There's a wonderful sense of anticipation when you hear that nervous crackle of needle on fresh groove during the brief moment before the music kicks in."
It's fucking brilliant......!!!!!
Let it live long"

Some Wickedness for your Wednesday
Here's some new bits worth a listen:
Firstly Big Boi featuring his cheif sparring partner Andre 3000 and Chef Raekwon from the Wu it's apparantly going to be the first single from the off Big Boi's new album Sir Lucious Left Foot.
Big Boi ft. Raekwon & Andre 3000 - Royal Flush
And next up this is some more classic Premier beatwork. I've never heard of these guys before but apparently they have had a couple of albums out: 'Heavens Mentality' and 'The Cross Movement'. Check http://www.betarecords.com/house.of.reps/ for more info. Anyway forget those and check this out.
House of Reps - U Gotta Love Us (prod. DJ Premier)
And finally here's something a bit classic from Kurious Jorge. Originally released in 1993 this is probably the tune he's best remembered for although the entire Konstipated Monkey album was absolutely wicked (it got re-issued on Amalgam Digital last year, so go and buy it now!) with tracks like 'I'm Kurious' and 'Uptown Shit'. He's still in the game these days as a member of the Monsta Island Czars and there are rumours of a new album in the pipeline featuring Doom on the boards although i've not heard anything to confirm this myself.... Enjoy

Last Drum an Bass night in the Tap n Spile!
So this Sunday 31st August was the final 36th Chamber night in the Tap & Spile. We've been doing these nights for over 7 years now and it was a sad day when we found out a couple of weeks ago that the landlord who had worked with us for so long was leaving the pub. We decided to go out with a bang though and booked DJ Friction, DJ Randall and MC Foxy to play us out in style.
The night went off heavy like it was destined too and all the 36th Chamber DJ's pulled out the stops to mash up the dance one last time. Friction killed it with his ridiculously slick mixing and heavy drops before Randall and Foxy dropped some serious tunes to test the sound system. Massive shout out to those guys (and Scheme from Bounce Recordings) for coming down to the party!
We ended with a back to back session from Vapour & myself and although we were both half cut on champagne and weed, we rocked it with a few of the classic tunes that got the Tap jumping over the years, which personally i fucking loved. I hope the people of Newbury (and beyond) have learned something in our time doing the sunday night sessions as well as having a good time to some decent tunes once a week. It's a real shame that its all over now, but we have plans for the next one which will be kicking off a bit later in the year. You will be firmly spammed when the details are confirmed!
Massive thanks to all who have helped us out over the last 7 years; all the people who have given us lifts with the speakers and decks, all the people who've come down and chatted on the mic, all the guys (an a couple of girls) who've sacrificed their sunday evening roast to turn up and spin some records, and most of all the party people who came down week in week out and made the vibe what it was. There's far too many people to list individually but we both know who you are, so big up ya chest!
This is the only picture i got so far. If you got any hit me up and i'll stick them online!
